We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Structural Engineer Plans Examiner to join our team of professionals. JOB REQUIREMENTS: * Reviews structural plans, calculations, specifications, and supporting documentation for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. * Verify compliance with the Florida Building Code, including structural provisions and applicable local amendments. * Evaluate structural design elements including foundations, concrete, steel, masonry, wood framing, and wind-load design requirements. * Review product approvals, shop drawings, and engineering reports for code compliance. * Prepare clear, detailed plan review comments and correction notices. * Communicate effectively with architects, engineers, contractors, and property owners regarding plan review findings. * Coordinate with other discipline reviewers (Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire) to ensure comprehensive compliance. * Maintain accurate documentation and status tracking with electronic permitting and plan review systems. * Participate in meetings with municipal staff and design professionals to resolve technical issues. * Stay current with code updates, structural engineering practices, and industry standards. SKILLS: * Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and building construction practices. * Extensive familiarity with the Florida Building Code and wind load design requirements. * Ability to read and interpret complex construction drawings and technical documents. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Ability to manage multiple projects in a deadline driven environment. * Proficiency with electronic permitting and plan review systems. * Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: * Florida Professional Engineer (PE) License in Structing Engineering required, or Civil Engineering (issued prior to March 1993) * Minimum 2 years of experience working a High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ), or willingness to complete required HVHZ training * Minimum 3-5 years of experience of structural plan review, structural inspections, or related Building Department/Engineering work. * Experience with municipal permitting and plan review processes preferred. * Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
