How You'll Make an Impact A CNC Set-Up Programming Machinist oversees operating the computer numerical control (CNC) machine. They produce machined parts according to established parameters and specifications. CNC Operator work alongside many departments such as: Quality, Engineering, and Operations to produce high-quality products. What you'll be doing as a CNC Set-Up Programming Machinist:Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Simi Valley, CA location.With limited supervision, performs advanced level machining of parts and tools.Performs in-process inspections of Level I Operators.Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring toolsUnderstands and comprehends all forms of technical documents including blueprints and drawings, written specifications, charts, tables, etc.Skillfully uses all machinist hand tools and measuring instruments.Sets up and lays out own work from blueprints, sketches, and written specifications according to requirements.Report job status to the supervisor including any malfunctions, non-conformances, damaged equipment, or other obstacles to production.Ensure the on-time completion of tasks and reviews work for quality and completeness.Sets up machines proficiently for each jobWorks from prints or drawings to produce a variety of itemsProduces precision parts within the allocated time listed on job travelerInspects machining operations and finished products against specified tolerances, using precision measuring tools - Keeps quality records for each jobKeeps machinery and tooling in good working order, according to daily, weekly, & monthly maintenance schedulePerforms in-process inspections of Level I Operators.Make offset adjustments up to .002.Identify and change worn and broken tools efficientlyTroubleshoot minor issues that arise after tool changes and offset adjustments.Provide detailed tie-in notes, address, and avert issuesAbility to provide accurate descriptions of issues to higher-level machinistOperate all machines within their CellSet up many of the common jobs within their CellLoad programs into machinesBack programs up to "Machine Dump"Interpret blueprints accurately to make necessary adjustments.Maintains a track record of high-quality work with low rework and scrap history.Maintains high efficiencies and run rates for given machine.Performs other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience):At least 3 years of experience in the manufacturing industry with knowledge of speeds and feedsOn the job experience operating the following: large vertical boring mills (vbm), Horizontal boring mills (hbm), and/or 6' to 8' work envelopesProperly uses basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometer, indicators, etc.)Able to work independently, responsible, & reliableWorking with forgings and castingsProficient blueprint reading skills & trigonometryProficient with quality tools required to do the jobAbility to work independently, follow instructions, concentrate for long periods of timeGreat work ethicsDemonstrate strong attention to detailMechanically inclined, with good manual dexterityGood writing and verbal communication skillsExperience with MS applications Strong skills and aptitude in mathCompletion of vocational or college training in machine shop (Certificate of completion of basic machining coursePhysical Demands: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of this job. The CNC Set-Up Programming Machinist Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $23/hr - $48/hr commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates.
