Laboratory Assistant

Insight Global is looking to hire a Laboratory Assistant for a client of ours in the Des Moines, IA area. Below are general responsibilities. This individual will join the Microbiology department supporting food samples.• Specific Assignments • Prepare test samples in accordance with standard operating procedure and applicable quality control procedures. • Assist other Lab Technicians & Bench Scientists with sample/waste disposal, dishwashing, washing & autoclaving reusable equipment, maintain sample inventory and consumable inventory, etc. • Complete pipette calibrations & verifications. • Follow all company guidelines and procedures relevant to assigned duties. • Adhere to all pertinent health, safety, and environmental regulations. • Maintain a safe and clean laboratory; clean work area and glassware used in analyses, dispose of hazardous wastes according to established procedures; assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment. • Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and co-workers. • Recommend more accurate or efficient laboratory equipment or procedures.Hourly rate for this position is $17.50.We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Nice to Have Skills & Experience• Background experience in the manufacturing field, decon area, or a similar "process" driven field.• Prior experience in a laboratory or processing environment is preferred but not required.
