Server AssistantThe newly reimagined Whaling Bar is seeking a Server Assistant that works closely with the front-of-house and back-of-house team members. The Server Assistant is responsible for preparing the dining room for service, table maintenance and for delivering all dishes from the kitchen to the appropriate guest in the dining. They will know all of the dishes on the menu and be prepared to answer questions from guests. The Server Assistant is also responsible to prepare and deliver beverages to guests in an efficient and timely manner. They should have the ability to provide the highest standard of service, superior communication and interpersonal skills, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to handle a high-volume environment. Essential Duties: Open, close and maintain the dining room and beverage station as neededWork closely with servers to contribute to a positive dining experience for guestsBe knowledgeable of menu items and cuisineMaintain table cleanliness and steps of service throughout shiftPolish glassware and cutlery as directedGreet all guests with enthusiasm and friendlinessExecute on-going, pre- and post-shift side workExpedite, as needed Competencies & Qualifications:General knowledge and interest in food and wine with a desire to learn and growActively practice food safety procedures • Able to take direction and complete tasksOrganizational skills with careful attention to detailPleasant demeanor and professional composureAbility to engage guests successfully and build a relationshipPunctual with a strong sense of urgency and work ethic with the ability to multitaskA warm, compassionate, and team-focused approachAbility to lift up to 25lbs if necessaryStand for long periods during serviceOur employees receive competitive salaries and hourly rates.
