Summary/ Objective In keeping with our organization's goal of improving the lives if the residents we serve, the Activity Aide is responsible for creating and implementing stimulating programs that meet the physical, emotional and psychosocial need of the residents. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to 9perform the essential functions. 1. Responsible for planning activities which meet specific resident needs that include large groups, small groups and individual attention. 2. Observe and report resident attendance, participation, and behavior changes by documenting and charting. 3. Must be knowledgeable of individual care plans and support the care planning process by providing supervisors with specific information and observations of the resident's needs, preferences and report any behavioral changes. 4. Coordinates activity programs with volunteers from the surrounding community by providing guidance and assigning tasks. 5. Meet and greet all new residents upon arrival to the facility. 6. Assure that established infection control and standard precaution practices are maintained at all times. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment and supplies. 7. Maintain the comfort, privacy, and dignity of residents and interacts with them in a manner that displays warmth, respect and promotes a caring environment. 8. Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with residents, visitors, families, peers, and supervisors. 9. Report all hazardous conditions, damaged equipment, and supply issues to the supervisor. 10. Answers and respond to all lights promptly and courteously when working in resident care areas. 11. Report all incidents concerns to the appropriate department head. 12. Attend and participate in departmental meetings and in services as directed. 13. Recognize your role as part of the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement ( QAPI) efforts of your organization. 14. Attend trainings to build understanding and capacity to undertake QAPI work. 15. Carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities as assigned. 16. Follow established policies and procedure in support of QAPI efforts. 17. Look for and share with leadership ideas for improvement in the organization. 18. Communicate to leadership upon witnessing a positive outcome of a QAPI project or detecting barriers preventing project success. 19. Support QAPI efforts both verbally and non-verbally (i.e, via action and attitude), including adjusting performance and practice in accordance with QAPI initiatives and findings. 20. Participate in compliance trainings as scheduled and adhere to compliance plan. Supervisor Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibility. Work Environment This job operates in health care setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility while pulling or pushing carts. This position works mostly in the resident care areas as well as in occasional outside weather conditions. This role may also come into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stopping on a regular basis. The employee must be able to lift and move items weighing at least 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This position is part of health care facility that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education and Experience One year experience in an Activity Aide role.
