We are looking for a Word Processing Associate to join our Electronic Closing Binder Team within Office Services. As a Word Processing Associate, you will be responsible for the creation, formatting, and quality control of a variety of legal and business documents, ensuring consistency, clarity, and compliance with firm and client standards. You'll work closely with attorneys, paralegals, knowledge teams, and internal stakeholders-including remote team members in Chicago-to process and deliver high-quality materials that meet exacting standards. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and has the skills to deliver impeccable work under tight deadlines.Responsibilities• Format, edit, and produce legal and business documents including contracts, pleadings, and reports• Proofread for grammar, punctuation, style, and formatting accuracy• Apply redlining, version control, and prepare complex tables, cross-references, and hyperlinks• Transcribe audio content, convert document formats, and enhance accessibility via indexed content• Create and manage fillable PDF/Word forms• Coordinate workflows and intake processes with team members and stakeholders• Perform batch printing, OCR scanning, and repro/printing quality control• Identify and flag inconsistencies in deal names, dates, passwords, and ensure alignment with index or document metadata• Collaborate with Knowledge teams and interface directly with clients• Assist with document automation (mail merges, response shells), training, and continuous process improvements• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretionQualifications• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred• 1-2 years' experience with legal documents and law firm environments• Prior experience on an Electronic Discovery (EDS/E-Discovery) team is critical• Strong knowledge of legal formatting standards, Bluebook/APA citation, and document management systems• Proficient in:o Microsoft Office Suiteo Adobe Acrobat Pro (critical)o iProo LAWo Kofaxo PDF Docso Excel• Experience with audio transcription, fillable forms, batch printing, and OCR workflows• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Familiarity with timekeeping or job tracking systems is a plusWhat We're Looking For• Client-focused mindset with a strong sense of accountability• Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills• Able to identify errors in names, dates, and metadata with precision• Strong interpersonal skills - confident yet kind, and able to break down complex information for others• Flexible, resourceful, and committed to maintaining quality in high-pressure situations• Experience working in a client-facing capacity with knowledge or legal support teams• Committed to continuous learning and compliance with data privacy and firm protocolsAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by law.The compensation outlined reflects expectations for candidates who fully meet the role's qualifications in terms of education and experience.
