JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title:Adjunct, SociologyDepartment:SociologyPosition Reports to (Position Title):Chair, Sociology DepartmentPosition Class (Exempt or Non-Exempt):ExemptPosition Type (Full Time or Part Time):Part TimeIs this a Primary or Additional Position:AdditionalJob SummaryThe Department of Sociology at Jacksonville University invites applications for adjunct positions to teach undergraduate courses in the areas of:• Introductory Sociology• Environmental Sociology• Sociology of Leadership and OrganizationsIn-person or hybrid instruction is preferred; applications for fully online instruction will be considered.Duties/ResponsibilitiesAdjunct faculty members must perform all duties associated with teaching courses at the post-secondary level, including:• Providing lectures.• Leading class discussions.• Writing exams, grading exams, and providing feedback on other assignments.• Providing prompt responses to student questions.Required Skills/Abilities• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.• Excellent time management skills.• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Education and Experience• Applicant must possess either a Ph.D. or a Master's degree in Sociology, or 18 graduate credit hours earned in Sociology.Important NoteThis is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required for this position.
