Position Type: AdministrationDate Posted: 1/25/2026Location: Calumet District 132Location: Division of Academic ServicesJob Group: Teacher/11-MonthsReports to: Executive Academic ServicesSummary of Position Responsibilities:The Reading/Social Content Studies Specialist will be responsible for working with the Executive Director of Curriculum, principals, coaches/interventionist and teachers to oversee and support the implementation of the district's literacy action plan.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Support all students graduating college and career ready.Work closely with the Executive Director, Principals, Coaches and teachers to review, analyze, and present student literacy assessment dataAssist in identifying school-based literacy goalsImprove our Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) for students.Design professional development opportunities in the use of a standards of practice framework for literacy/social studies instruction, progress monitoring and horizontal and vertical curriculum alignment.Actively strive for cultural competence and equity in curriculum, instruction and assessmentEffectively present information and respond to questions from supervisor, staff and public.Model use of a standards of practice framework during literacy instructionModel high-quality first instruction in classrooms, based on annual literacy goalsFacilitate instructional practice, data management, and scheduling to meet MTSS and school improvement goals.Perform assigned responsibilities within designated time limitsWrite routine reports and correspondence.Maintain positive professional interactions with students and other education personnelMaintain confidentiality regarding student records, as well as student's personal and family mattersFollow school district's policies and proceduresPerform such other tasks and assume other responsibilities as the supervisor may assign.Qualification Requirements:The requirements listed below are typical of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction preferred. Teaching experience. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Holds IL Professional Educators License with endorsement in either: Reading/ELA, Social Studies, or Reading Specialist. Terms of Employment: Per Collective Bargaining Agreement, State and Federal Statutes and Board Policies. Compensation: As per Collective Bargaining Agreement.
