Teacher/Professional - Secondary - Path College and Career Teacher Grades 9-12 Job Number 0000763930 Start Date Open Date 02/01/2026 Closing Date 05/30/2027 Please make sure the following is attached to your application:Copy of your Official college transcriptsCopy of your Certification, Statement of Eligibility or University LetterROLE AND PURPOSE: The Path College & Career Teacher, under the supervision of the Principal, shall provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.They enable students to develop competencies and skills to excel in the academic subject area and to function successfully in society. Help ensure that ACHS students acquire the essential skills and meet all requirements necessary for success in high school and college. QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certification:Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned (8-12 ELA preferred).Experience: Prior experience teaching advanced courses (preferred)Knowledge of subjects assignedGeneral knowledge of curriculum and instructionAbility to instruct students and manage their behaviorStrong organizational, communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of integration of technologyPrior experience teaching high school (preferred)Prior experience teaching high school English courses (preferred)AVID training (preferred)Pre-AP and/or AP Institute training (preferred)Evidence of effective skills in the area of collaboration and communicationGeneral knowledge of what is necessary for students to successfully transition into an Institution of Higher EducationMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENTImplement the AISD curriculum guidelines for high school level courses.Prepare lessons that reflect differentiated instruction and implement a variety of techniques for student success.Work with students to ensure success on TSI/SAT/ACT/EOC examinations.Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies and administrative regulations.Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to district requirements.Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer (s).Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATION CLIMATECreate classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook of both AISD and the TCC SE campus.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.Work cooperatively with administrators, department coordinators, content specialists and other staff as needed to meet curriculum objectives.Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENTKeep informed of and comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents required.Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff/district committees as required. STUDENT MANAGEMENTEstablish and consistently enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, the ACHS discipline plan, and the ACHS student handbook.Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned. Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.Be a positive role model for students while supporting the mission's of the Arlington Independent School District and Tarrant County College. SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONSEstablish and maintain open and productive communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, administrators, teachers, and Tarrant County College Staff.Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENTActively engage in life-long learning.Actively collaborate with TCC staff and AISD staff to align rigor and contentAcquire training specific to Early College High SchoolsParticipate in staff development activities related to AISD and TCC in order to improve job-related skills.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESActively promote and serve as a sponsor for one or more ACHS student clubs or organizations.Supervise assigned teacher aide(s). MISCELLANEOUSMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment FactorsMaintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks and other classroom equipment.
