Shape Detroit's Future.The Mannik & Smith Group (MSG) is expanding our Transportation Team in Michigan, and we're looking for a Senior Roadway Engineer & Detroit Metro Transportation Lead to take charge of exciting roadway and utility design projects in a fully 3D digital environment. If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced setting and are ready to mentor a talented team, this role offers the perfect opportunity to make a tangible impact - both on our projects and your career.This position includes supervisory responsibilities, overseeing a team of seven designers in our Detroit office, and offers significant opportunities for professional growth and advancement.Key ResponsibilitiesWhat You'll DoAs the Senior Roadway Engineer & Detroit Metro Transportation Lead, you'll combine technical expertise with team leadership to deliver high-quality transportation and utility projects:Lead the preparation of roadway design plans and 3D models for local agency projectsPerform and review design calculations to ensure accuracy and compliancePrepare design packages for milestone client submittals, including estimates, special provisions, and RID packagesProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing teamSupport MDOT projects as needed, applying similar expertise and leadershipOversee and manage a team of seven designers, ensuring successful project delivery and professional developmentSkills, Knowledge and ExpertiseBachelor's degree in civil engineering 12-15 years' experience working with MDOT transportation and Local AgencyMichigan PE with the ability to become registered in other statesKnowledge of OpenRoads ORD design software is required.
