Whether you will spend your day brainstorming in an office cubicle, operating a crane, running manufacturing equipment or troubleshooting technical obstacles, at CMC, you'll get the training and support from your team that you need to excel in your role and reach your full potential.What You'll DoParticipates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety CultureGain knowledge about Steel Making processes through job shadowing and hands on activities Intern will spend time in each job role throughout the departmentWorks cross functionally under direction to improve manufacturing/department processesCompletes special projects as assigned by their manager, to include analysis and change continuous improvement recommendations as requestedPerform general labor to support operation requirementsPerform minor repairs to keep buildings, grounds, and equipment in working order to include: landscaping, painting and housekeepingParticipates in team meetings and activitiesPerforms other duties as assignedPlan, coordinate, and communicate with peers and supervisors daily to ensure safe operations, preservation of company assets, environmental compliance, cost and energy consciousness, and to promote the values of the CMC people programWhat You'll NeedAbility to work an 8-hour schedule, which may require some evening or weekend workAbility to work in extreme heatMust be able to lift up to 50 lbsAbility to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment requiredAbility to learn quickly and multitask requiredAbility to pay close attention to detail requiredStrong quality and results orientation with a proactive approachAbility to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse culturesAbility to work independently with moderate level of directionCritical thinking, strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detailHigh sense of confidentialityDemonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and work effectively among a diverse group of peopleStrong written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to present to senior leadersPassion for innovation and a leader for changeMust meet CMC attendance standardsAbility to interact with coworkers and customers in a positive manner, follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback requiredMust be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, squat, crawl and reachAbility to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required, including weekends and holidaysMust be at least 18 years oldGood math skills requiredProficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPointYour EducationHigh School Diploma or GED requiredCurrently pursuing a degree in a related field at an accredited universityWe are CMC, a Fortune 500® company at the leading edge of our industry.
