As a Roadway/Site Engineer-in-Training (EIT), you will support the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and site development projects while continuing to grow your technical and professional skills under the guidance of licensed Professional Engineers.What are the core responsibilities for the role?Assist with the preparation of roadway design plans, profiles, and cross sections using AutoCAD Civil 3DSupport design tasks related to grading, drainage, utilities, water, and sewer systemsPrepare calculations, quantities, and exhibits in support of design developmentAssist with the development of technical memoranda, design plans, specifications, and reportsSupport permitting and agency coordination efforts in various jurisdictionsContribute to engineer's opinions of probable cost and quantity takeoffs at various project stagesPerform quality control checks on plans and documents under the supervision of a Professional EngineerCoordinate with project team members across multiple disciplinesParticipate in client meetings, internal coordination meetings, and project reviews as appropriateProvide construction support services, including responding to RFIs and assisting with construction observation tasksQualifications, Skills, and Competencies:Bachelor's degree in Civil EngineeringEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a defined timeframe2-4 years of relevant civil engineering experience, with an emphasis on roadway or transportation designWorking knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office preferredFamiliarity with roadway geometry, drainage design, and utility coordination conceptsAbility to follow established design standards, specifications, and agency requirementsStrong written and verbal communication skillsOrganized, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow technically and professionallyAbility to work effectively in a team environment and maintain positive working relationshipsExposure to municipal or state transportation projects preferredFamiliarity with local, state, or federal agency design standards preferredExperience supporting both public and private sector projects preferredWhy would a candidate want this job?At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits.
