We're a venture-backed team of fintech operators, builders, and designers reshaping what modern payments should look like.ControllerAs Controller, you'll own the finance function at Kasheesh. This includes everything from month-end closes and expense reimbursements, to financial modeling and investor reporting. You'll be our first finance hire, so you should be comfortable building processes and working independently. This role is ideal for someone with experience in fintech or payments and a desire to have a meaningful impact at an early-stage startup.The RoleThe Controller will be responsible for financial operations, compliance, and planning. You'll own the books, build and manage processes, and interact with our partners on all things finance related. You'll also be key in helping us understand our financial health and runway and support financial reporting for investor communications. What You'll DoPrepare monthly financial statementsBuild and maintain the company's budget and rolling forecastsManage the general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and expense reconciliationWork cross-functionally with department leads to manage their budgetsManage cash flow and runway reportingMaintain investor reporting packages and updatesSupport tax, compliance, and audit-related requirements (e.g. 1099s, state specific business tax filings)Own and improve financial tools, systems, and processes Help prepare for future fundraising rounds by ensuring clean financials and financial narrativesWhat We're Looking ForExperience working with or in early-stage, venture-backed companies is required4-7+ years of finance and accounting experience, ideally in fintech, payments, or high-growth startupsUnderstanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Familiarity with tools and platforms like StripeComfort with BIN management, reconciliation, and card-related financial workflowsComfortable working independently and building systems from scratchBonus: CPA or public accounting backgroundCompensationThe base salary range for this position is $100,000-$135,000. Base salary is just one component of our compensation structure. All full-time employees also receive an equity compensation package. In addition to your base salary and equity, you will be eligible to enroll in medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, including two fully covered options for individuals. We also offer a 401(k) match, a monthly wellness stipend, basic life insurance, unlimited vacation time and weekly team lunches in our NYC office.LocationOur office is based New York City. Employees are expected to work from the office several times per week.
