The duties involve patrolling assigned areas, conducting preliminary investigations, traffic and crowd control and providing security for the school district. These duties may sometimes be performed under hazardous and stressful conditions. This position may be assigned to a shift that rotates and may necessitate working weekends. This position is under direct supervision of the Patrol Supervisor in the region to which the officer is assigned and is under the general supervision of the Manager of Field Services.ResponsibilitiesConducts special investigations, preliminary investigations and surveillance as requiredHas frequent contact with students, teachers and staffMay be assigned to a bicycle patrol unitPatrols assigned area, in a marked vehicle, on foot or on a bicycle, which involves checking the security of school buildings and grounds, providing security inside and outside of the school buildings and providing crowd and traffic controlAssists in metal detector/x-ray searchesEnforces the policies of the Cleveland Metropolitan School DistrictAssists law enforcement agencies when requiredTestifies in court when requiredProperly operates and maintains all security equipmentRenders CPR/first aid when requiredMakes public speeches and presentations when necessaryCompletes all records and reports as requiredPerforms such other duties as may be assignedQualificationsHigh school diploma or a GED requiredMust possess a valid Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Peace Officer certificateMust attach/submit to the CMSD Human Resources Employee Services office by mail/fax the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certificateMust maintain firearms certification, if requiredPossession of valid Ohio Operations LicenseAbility to understand, interpret and know the geography of the Cleveland Metropolitan School DistrictMust possess the ability to complete reports and in general, operate a computer in a Windows environmentThrough knowledge of security methods, patrol techniques and equipment 9.Equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be consideredThe ability to deal with students, parents and members of the community in a fair and impartial manner is essentialEducationTo ApplyPlease submit your resume and application using Workday, our online human capital management system.
