Non Instructional/Support Services Job Number 4600313004 Start Date Open Date 07/01/2025 Closing Date 05/31/2026 Summary: The Substitute works in all schools. The substitute is a temporary educator who is responsible for operating a safe, orderly and positive classroom environment while the regular classroom teacher is absent. The substitute must effectively manage the classroom and provide instruction for students following the regular teacher's lesson plans, lesson plans developed by the school grade-level PLC or lesson plans s/he develops in consultation with the school.Essential Duties: (These duties represent a sample and may vary by position.)Provides meaningful instruction to studentsReviews and implements regular classroom routines, procedures, lesson plans and instructional strategies.Participates in grade-level meetings, faculty meetings, student intervention teams and other committees normally assigned to the regular classroom teacherEstablishes and maintains a safe and orderly learning environment for all studentsTakes reasonable measures to protect students, facilities and materialsCommunicates clearly and effectively to students, families and school personnelReports all student injuries, accidents, illnesses or any breach of the district's Code of Student Conduct to the school administration as soon as possibleWillingness to substitute in any grade level or course as assigned by the schoolDemonstrates cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assignedEducation and Experience:Minimum for Certified SubstituteBachelor's DegreePossession of a teaching license, active or expiredDesirableAt least three or more years successful teaching experienceMinimum for Non-Certified Substitute21 years of ageHigh School DiplomaDesirableAt least three or more successful years working in an educational environment supervising childrenKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of lesson plan development and implementationKnowledge of and ability to implement classroom management strategiesAbility to work collaboratively within the school and with families of studentsAbility to work independentlyAbility to value diversity.Proficiency in the use of Microsoft, Apple, Google and instructional software. It requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision and hearing. The work requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations and repetitive motor coordination.
