Engineer In Training (E.I.T.) - Louisiana Gulf CoastLafayette, LouisianaDucks Unlimited, Inc., the world's leading wetland and waterfowl conservation organization has an opening for an E.I.T. for DU's Louisiana Gulf Coast Region. The position will be stationed in the Lafayette, LA Field Office. The successful applicant will join a highly motivated team of biologists and engineers to deliver coastal wetland, riparian and associated habitat restoration and enhancement projects. The successful applicant will: (1) assist Regional Engineer(s) with project designs and plan production utilizing AUTOCAD Civil 3D, (2) assist Engineering Technicians with data collection and construction management utilizing the responsible operation of GPS and traditional surveying equipment for topographic and/or bathymetric surveys, (3) serve as DU's representative on construction projects, while performing a variety of inspections to verify contractor's compliance with plans, specifications and standards; (4) represent DU with local, state, and federal personnel, private landowners, and other conservation partners. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor of Science in Civil or Coastal Engineering from an ABET accredited college.Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam and registered as an Engineer in Training.Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Software.Ability to work independently, in inclement weather, in remote work environments.Ability to operate ATV and outboard boats.Ability to travel overnight, with some extended travel.WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STANDOUT:3+ Years' experience in a natural resources design fieldExperience creating hydrologic and hydraulic models, and using related engineering software for engineering designs especially focused on coastal restoration projectsOn the job experience with topographic surveying using RTK GPSKnowledge of heavy construction methods, practices, materials, and equipment especially focused in marine environmentsKnowledge of methods and techniques of project administration, construction inspection and materials testing.Demonstrated ability to work with public and private conservation partners.Demonstrated oral and written interpersonal and communication skills.Self-motivated and goal oriented.To apply: Please fill out all application materials and attach a cover letter, resume, and three professional references.
