Steel Fabrication Shop ManagerLocation: Santa Fe Springs, CASchedule: Monday-Saturday, 6:00am-2:30pm (Sundays as needed)Hours: 40-60 hours depending on workflowCompensation: $80,000-$125,000 ($38.46-$60.09/hr)Role OverviewResponsible for the overall leadership and day-to-day operations of the steel fabrication shop, including hiring, production planning, scheduling, safety, quality, and cost control. This role leads fabrication and welding teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.Key ResponsibilitiesShop Leadership & Operations Supervise, train, hire, discipline, and lead fabricators and welders. Enforce company policies, safety standards, and environmental regulations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.Production, Scheduling & Quality Plan, schedule, assign, and oversee all shop work. Monitor projects to ensure quality, schedule, safety, and budget goals are met. Maintain accurate time, production, and labor records. Ensure work complies with drawings, specifications, QA/QC programs, and applicable codes.Technical & Project Oversight Interpret blueprints, specifications, and work orders. Provide layout and technical guidance on structural steel, piping, tanks, skids, and related fabrication. Coordinate materials, staging, and project costs with engineering and management. Recommend improvements to production methods, equipment use, and efficiency.Technical EnvironmentCustom steel fabrication including tanks, structural steel, skids, platforms, piping, and ducting.Materials: Carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, exoticsWelding Methods: Stick, MIG, TIG, Fluxcore, OrbitalQualifications 5-10 years supervising 10+ fabricators. 5-10 years hands-on fabrication and welding experience. Strong blueprint and schematic interpretation skills. Expert knowledge of welding methods, QA/QC, shop equipment, and ASME/AWS codes.
