a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb; } tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6; } tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5; } Position OverviewThe Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving automation systems used in pharma, biotech or biologics manufacturing. This role focuses on building automation, environmental monitoring, and process automation systems used in a GMP-regulated facility. The position provides hands-on support for troubleshooting, implementing system changes, managing automation documentation, and supporting commissioning, qualification, and compliance activities. The role requires strong technical expertise, cross-functional coordination, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Key ResponsibilitiesSupports the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation systems including building automation (BMS), environmental monitoring (EMS), and future manufacturing automation systems.Installs and troubleshoots sensors and instrumentation for temperature, humidity, pressure, and related equipment.Leads troubleshooting, upgrades, and continuous improvements for automation hardware, software, and control systems.Develops, modifies, and maintains automation documentation such as URS, FDS, SDS, SOPs, wiring diagrams, network diagrams, and related controlled documents.Supports automation-related project planning, scheduling, cost management, commissioning, and qualification activities.Collaborates closely with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, validation, facilities, and quality teams to support daily operations.Provides technical guidance, mentoring, and support to less experienced engineers and operations personnel.QualificationsBachelors degree in engineering or a related technical field.7+ years of experience in automation engineering, preferably in pharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environments.5+ years of automation industry experience, including hands-on work with PLC and HMI programming.Strong troubleshooting skills related to automation, process equipment, controls hardware, and instrumentation.Experience working with GMP requirements, validation processes, audit trails, and change control systems.Experience supporting automation systems such as BMS, EMS, MES, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, historians, and industrial networks.Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, network topology diagrams, and technical documentation.Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.Valid drivers license; ability to work on-site and support occasional weekend work as production requires.Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and work in clean room gowning and PPE as required.BenefitsBase salary range: $130,000 to $143,000 depending on experienceMedical, Dental, VisionLife, AD&D, Short-Term and Long-Term DisabilityHealth and Financial Wellness ProgramsFlexible Spending Accounts401(k) with company match529 Education Savings ProgramVoluntary legal services, identity theft protection, and pet insurancePaid Time Off including holidays and additional leave options
