Work entails all phases of groundskeeping and maintenance including, lawn care, parking lot, and sidewalk maintenance, and preparation of outdoor athletic fields. Work assignments are completed using safety equipment, and following district and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines as required. Job Duties / Responsibilities Perform groundskeeping services including, but not limited to mowing, edging, trimming, mechanical weed control, pruning, and regular trash pick-up within the area of assignment.Assist with preparation of fields, tracks, courts, and grounds for athletic, extra-curricular, and other public events as assigned.Performs tree and shrub maintenance, including planting, transplanting, trimming, and removal.Conducts preventative maintenance checks, (oil, filters, belts, tire pressure, etc.).Assist other department personnel in the completion of work activities as assigned.Other duties as assignedEducation Current Junior or Senior in High School or High School Diploma/equivalent required.Experience / Knowledge Ability to demonstrate previous training and experience operating grounds equipment (i.e. weed whips, blowers, sidewalk edgers, etc.) within safety guidelines preferredGroundskeeping experience preferred. Physical Demands Able to lift 50 lbs. with proper technique.Work safely from stepladder, aerial lifts, or scaffolding up to a height of 10 ft.Work primarily outdoors involving exposure to inclement weather. Terms of Employment This is a non-benefit temporary seasonal position.Salary and benefits as established by the Board of Education.Valid Illinois Driver's License Required.Starting salary is $16.00/hr.Hours range from 6:00 am to 3:30 pm. Cannot exceed 600 hours/
