The Team Member we are searching forThe ideal Food Service Operations Manager is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC National and demonstrates this through leadership, reflection, and collaboration to ensure client success.The Food Service Operations Manager supports the operation of the School Nutrition Program by overseeing meal program compliance, kitchen operations, procurement, training, and administrative functions. This position ensures that all nutrition programs operate efficiently and comply with federal, state, and local regulations while supporting school sites in delivering high-quality meals to students.What you will need to accomplish:Key ResponsibilitiesProgram Compliance & Operations Oversee School Nutrition Programs, including SBP, NSLP, After-School Snack, and CACFP to ensure compliance with USDA and state regulations. Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the Food Service Department. Monitor menus, production records, and meal service to ensure adherence to nutrition standards and cost control. Ensure 100% audit readiness for all clients by implementing rigorous internal controls and conducting proactive risk assessments ahead of State Administrative Reviews. Supervise and support the Food Service Assistant and other nutrition support staff, ensuring completion of required site monitoring, Smart Snack documentation, and operational compliance activities. Inspect school kitchens and equipment to ensure compliance with local health department regulations and maintain required permits and inspections. Ensure HACCP, along with federal, state, and County guidelines are followed concerning food safety and sanitation. Conduct school site visits to observe meal service operations, review site monitoring reports, and supervise Food Service Assistants to ensure services are operating effectively and that monitoring activities are completed accurately and in compliance with program requirements. Oversee the monthly submission of reimbursement claims in the Child Nutrition Information System (CNIPS) Apply federal, state, and local laws and regulations as they pertain to the nutritional needs of public school students. Support schools with Administrative Reviews, RFP processes, and corrective action plans. Ensure compliance with HACCP standards and federal, state, and local food safety regulations through routine kitchen inspections, updated food safety manuals, and established standard operating procedures. Attend CDE Town Hall and School Nutrition Program meetings to remain current on program updates and regulatory changes.Purchasing, Inventory & Equipment Prepare purchase orders, review vendor invoices, and maintain procurement records. Support schools with ordering food service supplies and equipment. Supervise monthly inventory completed and documented by the Food Service Assistant. Coordinate equipment purchases, maintenance, and repairs. Update the Procurement Plan as needed. Research a variety of topics (e.g., new products) to recommend purchasing, contracts, and maintain district-wide services. Work with FSMC to complete the Food Distribution Program (USDA) surveys quarterly and annually.Data & Systems Management Manage food service software systems including Titan (LINQ), PowerSchool, and CALPADS. Generate and distribute Direct Certification reports and maintain program data. Generate person data reports in Titan to track Fall 1 Data for FRP data for submission to the Data and SIS teams Provide clients with regular updates on their FRP data.Training & Staff Support Develop and deliver training for food service staff and school-site personnel on food safety, program regulations, standard operating procedures, and meal preparation and service practices. Coordinate annual training programs to ensure staff meet required professional development and compliance training hours. Supervise Food Service Assistants and provide coaching as needed.Communication & Program Support Prepare reports, proposals, and departmental documentation. Maintain nutrition program websites and assist with Local Wellness Policy updates and communications. Email school leaders with updates regarding food services, including CDE Bulletin updates as they pertain to their direct roles and responsibilities.Administrative Duties Perform additional duties assigned to support Nutrition Services operations. Work with FSMC to ensure the best quality of service is provided to schools. Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; review with appropriate management staff; and implement improvements. Develop and implement marketing programs in support of the school sites to meet student needs and improve/increase participation. Conduct an internal audit of all newly enrolled students to ensure processing of Family Income Form and UBA's is processed accurately. Prepare reports, presentations, and operational updates for leadership and school partners, including participation data, program updates, and regulatory communications. Support Food Service Assistant with Smart Snack monitoring documentation and activities. Provide functional oversight and technical assistance to school-site personnel to ensure adherence to contracted service standards. Client Success and Partnership Act as the primary point of contact for school leadership regarding nutrition program health and financial viability. Travel regularly to school sites and client locations to support operations and ensure program effectiveness and compliance.What do we require from you?Minimum QualificationsEducation: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Food Science, related field, or equivalent training and experience requiredExperience: 2+ years of experience in supervising staff 5+ years of experience in school food service for the National School Lunch ProgramSkills and Abilities Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Familiar with Point-of-Sale systems, such as Titan (Linq) Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) Alignment with core characteristics required of every PUC employee: pursuit of excellence, innovation, community, tenacity, and authenticity Able to research, design, develop, and present materials as applied to training and informational programs Must be flexible and team-oriented Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Bilingual in Spanish preferred Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this positionThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, lift up to 30 pounds.
