Additionally, our growing family of companies enables us to address the entire life cycle of power generation and other industrial plants.About the Opportunity:As an Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting corporate engineering functions across NAES' diverse fleet of facilities. This role provides exposure to real-world engineering processes, technical project support, and collaboration with Corporate Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams.In addition to office-based work, you will have the opportunity to travel to various NAES operating facilities within the region. In this setting, you will learn directly from site personnel, observe industrial plant equipment and operations, and contribute to engineering and project-related assignments.This internship is ideal for students eager to apply academic knowledge in both office and field environments while developing practical engineering skills within the energy industry.Primary ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Technical SupportAssist with engineering analyses, evaluations, and technical reporting.Support data collection, trending, and performance analysis activities.Review engineering drawings, equipment manuals, and technical specifications.Prepare and update engineering documentation, including procedures, checklists, and technical summaries.Help maintain engineering databases, asset records, and controlled documents.Project & Field SupportTravel to NAES operating facilities within the region to observe plant operations and support engineering or maintenance projects.Assist site teams with equipment assessments, system walkdowns, and reliability or performance improvement initiatives.Gather field data, document observations, and support progress tracking and reporting.Participate in project research, technical standards reviews, and compilation of reference material.Cross-Functional CollaborationWork with Corporate Engineering, Operations, NERC, Environmental, and Safety teams to support technical, regulatory and project management needs.Attend meetings, training sessions, and discussions to broaden understanding of plant systems and engineering practices.Business Development SupportWork with the Compliance Services teams to assist with various inside sales, proposal development and marketing support activities.Activities include sales research, tracking department objectives, lead development, email/marketing campaigns, use of CRM, fleet sales, and assisting with proposal development.Assist in estimating & modeling of opportunities for development of proposals.Review and assist in proposal development & delivery to customer(s).Administrative & General SupportAssist with document organization, version control, and quality review.Support ad hoc requests from engineering leadership and contribute to departmental efficiency initiatives.Why You're a Great Fit (About You)Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering or a related fieldEager to visit operating industrial facilities and gain hands-on exposure to equipment and systemsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate clearly and professionally with both office and field personnelComfortable working with data, conducting research, and learning new engineering tools and softwareProactive, with a willingness to ask questions and learn in a team-oriented environmentPhysical Requirements and Working ConditionsPhysical requirements include the ability to sit for extended periods and work on a computer for prolonged screen time. The role may also require standing for extended periods, as well as climbing stairs and ladders. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, and ear protection, is required when performing certain duties in a power plant setting.Fitness for DutyAll employees will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program. This program includes a pre-employment drug screening.Work ScheduleNormal working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Extended hours may be required during project phasing and project specific requirements.CompensationThe initial hourly rate of pay will be $22.00 per hour.Education and ExperienceCurrently enrolled in an Engineering program (Power, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or related), with preference for students with 1-2 years remaining in their degreeRelevant experience through internships, laboratory work, academic projects, or courseworkProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly ExcelFoundational knowledge of engineering principles, with an interest in power or industrial systemsStrong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.Must possess a valid drivers' license at all timesNAES SafeSafety is a core value of NAES and as a condition of employment, all employees are expected to be mentally alert and work safely at all times.
