Position Type: Athletics/Activities/Coaching--Unified BocceDate Posted: 11/17/2025Location: Daniel Boone Area High SchoolReports To: Director of Athletics Hours Per Day: Varies due to need of position Days Per Year: Varies Employee Group: Coaches Split Position Minimum Qualifications: Must possess current clearances of PA State Police Background Check, Child Abuse, and FBI Fingerprint Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Oversees the administration of the High School's Unified Track team which is composed of a proportional number of students with disabilities and students without disabilities. 2. Liaison regularly with the school's Athletic Director and Special Olympics Pennsylvania to ensure quality program standards are being met and policies are being followed. 3. Develop and implement practice plans in which bocce instruction is provided to all participants. There is a minimum of two practices each week. 4. Organize and lead all practice sessions with the recruitment and support of Assistant Coach Volunteers. 5. Impart the philosophy of a positive inclusive sports experience by following the principals of Unified Sports®. 6. Plan and manage competition strategies for individuals and the team at Unified Bocce matches. 7. Recruit students with intellectual disabilities, students with other types of disabilities, and students without disabilities for the team. 8. Handle all paperwork requirements and forms required by the school district and Special Olympic Pennsylvania. 9. If serving as a host site for a Unified Bocce match, recruit and train volunteers to manage the event. 10. Attend the free Unified Sports® Track training in your county and complete the free online 90 minutes Special Olympics Unified Sports Coaches' course. 11. This position also follows all policies and procedures listed in the DBASD Coaches Handbook. Compensation: $750 stipend will be paid to each coach (total of 2) by the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania.
