Salary: $19.51 HourlyLocation : Newington Maintenance FacilityJob Type: InternJob Number: 201601219Division: Transmission & DistributionDepartment: Fleet Services SectionOpening Date: 01/27/2026Max Number of Applicants: 50 Description Under the supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor, the Fleet Maintenance Aide provides automotive service and repair support to the Fleet Maintenance team. The Fleet Maintenance Aide is responsible for assisting with general vehicle and equipment maintenance and various other duties as assigned. In return, the Fleet Maintenance Aide will receive hands-on exposure to the inner workings of the Fleet Maintenance Department, which is tasked with maintaining over 450 vehicles and pieces of equipment. Examples of Duties Maintaining general vehicle and equipment care by performing duties such as changing oil, lubricating chassis, replacing belts, hoses, and other preventive maintenance needs.Assisting in basic vehicle and equipment repairs.Maintaining the automotive repair facility by:Cleaning vehicles and equipment.Sweeping floors and collecting trash.Performs other duties as assigned and required. Typical QualificationsActively pursuing certification or degree in a vocational and trades program. Possess the ability to identify and use basic hand and power tools. Ability to lift 40 pounds. Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. The selected candidate must be comfortable driving in the Northern VA area to pick up parts and assist with moving vehicles as requested.
