Environmental Services Department Manager

Clay County Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Services Department Manager to lead our Housekeeping and Laundry Departments. The Environmental Services Department Manager plays a critical role in fostering a positive team environment, maintaining efficient staff scheduling, ensuring exceptional customer service, and upholding the highest standards of safety and cleanliness throughout the hospital and clinics. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Environment * Foster a collaborative, respectful, and team-oriented work culture. * Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate departmental staff. * Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development. * Promote strong communication and accountability within the Housekeeping and Laundry teams. Scheduling & Staffing * Develop and manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts. * Adjust staffing plans proactively to meet patient census and facility needs. * Maintain productivity standards while supporting employee engagement and morale. Customer Service Excellence * Ensure a clean, welcoming, and sanitary environment for patients, staff, and visitors. * Respond promptly and professionally to service requests and concerns. * Promote a service-first mindset within the department. Safety & Compliance * Maintain compliance with all Federal and State regulations. * Ensure adherence to infection control standards and hospital safety policies. * Lead safety training initiatives and reinforce safe work practices. * Conduct routine inspections to maintain a hazard-free environment. Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement * Oversee quality assurance standards and conduct quality improvement studies. * Monitor departmental performance metrics and implement corrective action plans as needed. * Ensure that housekeeping, laundry, and floor care programs meet established healthcare standards. Operational & Financial Management * Manage departmental budgets, supplies, and equipment. * Oversee purchasing and inventory control processes. * Maintain proper documentation and reporting. * Utilize basic computer applications (internet, Word, email, etc.) for communication and recordkeeping. Required Qualifications * Thorough understanding of housekeeping, laundry, and floor care practices. * Basic computer knowledge and proficiency (internet, Word, email, etc.). * Strong organizational, scheduling, and leadership skills. * Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and service excellence. Desired Qualifications * 3-5 years of experience in hospital environmental services or a skilled nursing facility preferred * Prior supervisory or management experience in a healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
