Position Type: Maintenance/CustodialDate Posted: 3/11/2026Location: River Grove SchoolClosing Date: 04/10/2026District: River Grove School District 85-5JOB SUMMARY: The Custodian is employed by the Board of Education, at the recommendation of the Superintendent, in consultation with administrators and the Coordinator for Building and Grounds, to insure that the facilities are maintained in a condition of excellence, including a clean, safe and orderly learning environment, inside and outside.QUALIFICATIONS:Be a high school graduate.Possess the ability to use a computer, including accessing gmail.Previous experience as a custodian preferred.Prior to employment must have a physical examination including a TB test. The Board will pay this initial examination. Thereafter, a physical exam must be taken every three years. The cost of this exam will be covered by the District.REQUIRED KNOWLEDG, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Able to work with students and adults in a positive manner.Able to foster a cooperative work environment, take direction and work in a team to support the goals of the District to provide a clean, safe and orderly learning environment inside and outside.Able to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.Able to perform multiple concurrent tasks while attending to detail.Of good moral character and possessing temperate, ethical and industrious habits.Physically and emotionally able to perform job responsibilities.Attend work regularlygned by him/her, as they relate to custodial services. and punctually and complete duties in a timely manner.Be on duty, as assigned by the Supervisor, so as to insure that the custodial needs of the building are met.Have the responsibility of providing cleaning services for assigned areas of the building.Be aware of all building events, assist with the set up, take down and facilities needs of any group which has been given permission to use the building. This assignment will be given from the Supervisor.Have the responsibility, if so assigned by the Supervisor, for building security. This responsibility shall include the locking of all doors and windows, the turning off of unneeded electrical power, the setting of environmental control systems to a comfortable level, the checking for safety and health factors throughout the building, the setting of the alarm system, etc.Report to the Supervisor, all concerns or events that come to your attention./Assist the public and the Board of Education, on evenings when there are meetings of the Board scheduled in the building.STATUS OF EMPLOYMENT:Full Time 12 Month Position10:30 A.M. - 7:00 P.M.COMPENSATION:$20.00 per hourPaid sick leave in accordance with IMRF regulations - 10 days.Paid holidays in accordance with Policy 5:40.Paid vacation in accordance with Policy 5:50.Uniforms in accordance with Policy 5:140,
