Introduction The Storage HW development team is a dynamic, exciting team with a lot of opportunities to challenge yourself. The team is located in Tucson, AZ. As a core member of the development team, you will be expected to work autonomously and deliver on project phases for different Storage programs like DS8000, Virtual and Physical Tape. You will have the opportunity to work with a variety of infrastructure areas like Supply Chain, MFG Engineering Team, Product Management, Compliance, Development, Quality Assurance, Suppliers, Vendors and get visibility to almost all areas of the IBM Infrastructure portfolio. You will drive HW Development initiatives across a globally distributed team primarily operating in US and Mexico. We are looking for a first-line manager to join our HW Development team for IBM Storage program. Your role and responsibilities As a People Manager for Hardware/Firmware Development, you will: * Lead and manage a team of Mechanical, Electrical and HW Development Engineers for IBM Storage development organization. * Provide direction and prioritization in HW development life cycle process. * Develop roadmaps to deliver on schedule * Know about programming languages * Manage escalations, communications, and interlocks with peer managers. * Remove blockers for the team. * Identifying and Aligning cross functional dependencies for fast resolutions * Encourage an environment of courageous and creative innovation, from recognizing needs and generating ideas, to implementing and advocating new ways of working. * Apply new approaches and solutions for process improvements, automation, and efficiency. * Foster skills growth and career development of your direct reports. * Recognize and advance employee talent across the organization. * Embrace and promote a culture of feedback and recognition. * Seek opportunities for more client engagement and use of customer-facing experiences to provide value-add services. * Facilitate sharing of ideas and expertise among the team and collaborate with other teams. * Ensure teams have the necessary resources to effectively execute and deliver business outcomes. * Support team members in adopting and applying IBM Growth Behaviors and encourage greater involvement, ownership, and business contribution. Leaders are expected to spend time with their teams and clients and therefore are generally expected to be in the workplace a minimum of three days a week, subject to business needs. Required education Bachelor's Degree Preferred education Master's Degree Required technical and professional expertise HW Design and Development background Mechanical and Electrical background Schematics Diagrams background Programming Languages background Knowledge in Storage Technologies Field Support and Failure Analysis background Strong leadership or people management experience. Finance and Capital background Project management and cross-team coordination experience. Executive presentation experience. Strong communication and writing skills. Preferred technical and professional experience Familiarity or background with IBM Storage, Power, and Z. Technical breadth in IBM Systems (Infrastructure) offerings. Ability to collaborate and influence across Storage Systems Development, Systems Assurance and other organizations. US Citizenship Required. The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
