The graphics technician prepares jobs for the flexographic printing process using specialized design software like Adobe Illustrator and ESKO. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver who can effectively coordinate with multiple departments and external vendors to ensure timely and high-quality results.Job Summary:The graphics technician is responsible for preparing all aspects of flexographic printing production from initial design through platemaking. Supervisory Responsibilities:NoneDuties/Responsibilities:Layout and prepare jobs for flexographic printing using design software including Adobe Illustrator and ESKO plugins.Collaborate with engineers and the product development team to design functional labels and troubleshoot new product designs. Create, review, and manage tooling drawings; coordinate with vendors to ensure all specs are accurate and complete. Perform prepress functions such as color management, stepping, trapping, and assigning color names according to print standards. Generate and deliver electronic or physical proofs to internal teams and customers for approval. Prepare final print files and create press plates based on job specifications using computer software and platemaking equipment. Create die lines and technical drawings using CAD Tools for Illustrator.Quality check plates before press runs to ensure accuracy and readiness for production. Gather or create all required documentation for new orders that need to be plated. Coordinate with other departments to meet scheduling and production needs. File and archive all completed documentation once jobs return from the plant. Assist in maintaining platemaking databases, equipment, and related tools. Occasionally support internal marketing needs by designing company posters, brochures, and digital signage. Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and SOPs. Comply with all safety rules, company policies, and procedures including attendance policies and safety standards. Demonstrate punctuality, regular attendance, professionalism, and self-directed task management. Actively participate as a team member to assist other departments and maximize overall efficiency. Familiarity with manufacturing processes, particularly in the labeling, packaging, or flexographic printing industry, is a strong advantage. Knowledge of ESKO software including Automation Engine, ArtPro+, and DeskPack for Illustrator is a plus. Engineering or technical drawing experience is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Occasionally lift and move platemaking materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus and matching or detecting differences in colors including shades of color and brightness.
