Generic Substitute Teacher-After completing your online application, visit our website @ for more information on how to proceed with the process. There are 3 phases to our process to becoming a substitute. After the application is submitted and App Garden course is completed if required, hiring paperwork is released. Applicant is to reach out to HR once all forms are completed including the required heath certificate to set up an appointment to meet with HR. Upon completion of all task and application is complete at that time application is sent to Directors of HR for approval. Upon approval you will receive a postcard in the mail that states you are an Approved Substitute along with a email with instructions for next steps.Note* Substitute teachers are on-call staff. Substitute teachers are allowed to work 29.5 hours weekly.GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOBA substitute teacher serves as a teacher during the absence of the regular classroom teacher. The substitute teacher monitors student behavior, attends to the needs of students, and follows the regularly established routines of the classroom. The substitute teacher receives detailed instruction of the duties and responsibilities of this work from the regular classroom teacher. The substitute teacher serves under the direct supervision of the principal. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Delivers instructional material as provided by teacher Monitors students' completion of work and behavior Reports problems and concerns of students to the designated authority Follows schedules and plans provided by teacher Ensures student safety MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Completion of High School diploma or GED Ability to maintain confidentiality Skill in delivering instructional materials to students Understanding of school processes and procedures Ability to execute plans designed by teacher Ability to monitor and respond appropriately to needs of students Ability to communicate in a positive manner Ability to utilize current technology and functions of programs used in the classroom PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be physically able to accompany students to various locations within a school. Must be able to perform basic life functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, grasping, pushing, pulling, speaking, hearing, and performing repetitive motions.
