Salary: $15.00 - $28.14 HourlyLocation : Public Works - 490 Greenleaf Drive, ILJob Type: SeasonalJob Number: 202600022Department: Public WorksOpening Date: 02/26/2026Closing Date: ContinuousSalary Details: The salary range for the position is $15.00 - $28.14 per hour, dependent on experience, skill-set, and the possession of a CDL. DescriptionThe Public Works Department employs individuals on a temporary/seasonal basis to assist with maintaining Village property. The Department is currently seeking individuals for summer seasonal employment for the duration of three (3) to six (6) months with an anticipated start date of May 11, 2026 (negotiable). Applicants must be at least 18 years of age. Individuals will be working 40 hours per week; including some nights and weekends for special events. Example of DutiesUnder the direct supervision of the Crew Leader, individuals will participate in the daily maintenance of the Village's infrastructure; including set-up and tear-down of special events, within one of the following divisions of Public Works:Street Lighting & Building Maintenance Division: This individual will assist with cleaning of garage and work areas, cleaning of vehicles and equipment, stocking of supplies, changing light fixtures, general painting, and basic repairs. This individual will also perform a variety of advanced plumbing, carpentry, electrical and masonry activities required for the construction, repair, and maintenance of Village owned facilities, buildings, and grounds. A demonstrated proficiency in most of all of these skill-sets is required, along with the ability to use and operate general-purpose hand and power tools and equipment.Streets Division: This individual will assist in the repair, construction and maintenance of Village streets, storm sewers, and facilities using rollers, plate compactors, skid steers, wheel loaders, shovels, rakes, and other handheld equipment. This individual will assist with planting of flowers, shrubs, and trees and maintenance operations such as mowing, weeding, cultivating, edging, fertilizing, and watering of Village property. A demonstrated proficiency in most of all oftheseskill-setsisrequired;alongwiththeabilitytouseandoperategeneral-purposehandand power tools and equipment.Forestry Division: This individual will assist in the maintenance of Village trees, including trimming, planting, tree removals, grinding of stumps, chipping, and watering. This individualwill assist with the pick-up and hauling of debris caused by storms and flooding. This individualmay also assist with grounds maintenance at the Village's athletic complex. A demonstrated proficiency in most or all of these skill-sets is required along with the ability to use and operate general-purpose hand and power tools and equipment.Duties for Seasonal Worker positions may also include supporting other divisions within the Public Works Department, and with the set up and operation of many community events, as well as perform other duties, as assigned.Typical QualificationsThe following requirements must be met:Be at least 18 years of ageHigh School Diploma or equivalentPossession of a valid driver's license or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Ability to work 40 hours per week; including nights and weekends as necessaryPassage of a pre-employment physical, drug screen, criminal background check, motor vehicle history report, employment, education and reference check Supplemental InformationThe position will remain open until filled.
