Job DescriptionThis position serves as a strategic advisor to a set of Vice Presidents and business leaders providing both consultative and operational support. The Senior Business Partner proactively addresses and resolves routine and complex issues by applying HR best practices, policy knowledge, and experience. The Senior Business Partner is responsible for implementing and delivering Human Resources related strategies, policies, analyses, training, and services that create, support, and sustain a high-performing workforce.Responsibilities: Engage and lead a variety of human capital initiatives, related to strategic workforce planning, talent assessment, succession planning, and employee engagementProvide guidance to leaders and employees at all levels regarding interpretation of policies, procedures, and standard processesAdvise and support on employee relations issues, ensuring legal compliance and consistent application of HR policiesConduct thorough, impartial, and unbiased investigationsWork closely with leaders and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity, and retention Lead the university's comprehensive immigration sponsorship strategy (H-1B, J-1, and Permanent Residency). Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) to Provosts, Deans, and Department Chairs on the complexities of international hiring. Oversee relationships with external immigration counsel to ensure high service standards and cost-effective filing processes.Partner with Title IX Office on reports involving employees as neededAnalyze trends and metrics in partnership with the HR team to develop solutions, programs, and policiesContribute to an environment focused on continuous improvement for the HR teamEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and regulationsPerform other duties as assignedSr. HR Business Partner Additional Responsibilities:Support a larger number of business units (approx. 400 clients)Serve as director's designeeUtilize high emotional intelligence and a deep knowledge of the university's unique operational challenges to influence decisions and deliverables Lead and/or serve as co-lead (in collaboration with Director and HRBPs) in the planning, design, and execution of team goals, HR initiatives, and projects (e.g., major restructuring, talent assessment, succession planning, business continuity planning, & training)Mentor HR staff Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field Minimum of 8+ years' experience in a Business Partner or HR advisory role Minimum of 4 years' supervisory experienceSkills:Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and employee relationsSolid knowledge of change management principles, techniques, and toolsDemonstrated ability to work independently and use strong emotional intelligence, discretion, and confidentiality in all interactionsProven ability to build and cultivate relationships and work collaboratively in a multi-discipline and multi-stakeholder environment Demonstrated skill in prioritizing competing work assignments and conflicting priorities to deliver actionable itemsSkilled in communicating clearly and effectively both verbally and in writingStrong problem-solving skills with a focus on productive outcomes and client service excellenceInnovative thinking skills to provide solutions to business processesAdvanced analytical skills to drive business decisions and measure return on investment Proven power (skills) to lead through persuasion, data, and trustPreferred Qualifications: Master's degree HR Certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR)Higher Education HR experienceAbout UsButler University is a private, nationally recognized comprehensive university encompassing seven colleges: Arts, Business, Communication, Education, Liberal Arts & Sciences, Pharmacy & Health Sciences and Founder's College.
