Position SummaryThe Weather Channel is searching for our next great storyteller. TWC seeks a Multimedia Journalist (MMJ) | Field Producer with fully developed reporting, producing, writing and communication skills. The ideal candidate is a creative and energetic storyteller passionate about the weather and climate. The ideal candidate must research and write creative, conversational content proficiently. This individual will also be required to shoot, produce, conduct interviews and edit TV and digital content based on weather, climate, and news. Applicants must have strong storytelling skills that translate across multiple platforms and must be able to pitch stories ideas and concepts. Ideal candidates must be able to travel at short notice and will also lead a team as a field producer during severe weather situations. Off-camera work required.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProduce show segments, weather news packages, series and feature storiesLive television production experience and experience working with on-camera personalitiesAbility to conceive, outline, plan, shoot, write, and assemble short and long-form projectsExhibit excellent communication skills by talking with producers, assignment desk and newsroom leadership to execute cross-platform coverage of major weather events, breaking news coverage and human interest storiesReport in extreme weather conditions and excel in compelling taped storytelling contentMust be willing to travel on short notice, work long hours and stay in the field for extended coverage during severe weatherMust be able to field produce for meteorologists and correspondents in major live eventsAbility to be a self-starter and work in a fast-paced environmentMust be able to work in a team environment, under pressure while maintaining calm outside the box thinking and new ways of presenting live-saving informationPassion for weather requiredEducation, Experience, and Certification Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications or related fieldMinimum of three (3) years experience at a major news network, affiliate or live OTT news serviceMust have expert-level expertise in digital and social media platformsKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesStrong editorial background with a keen sense of storytelling, research and story ideationProficiency in utilizing AI tools for content creation and experience using them for productionLive television production experience with the ability to meet deadlines, especially in severe weather conditionsShooting and editing video for live TV, digital, and packages preferredExceptional communication skills with the ability to work under pressureDetail-oriented multitasker with the ability to make decisions both independently and in a team environmentExperience working with on-camera personalities and remote transmission knowledge and protocolAllen Media Group is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
