We're a nimble, fast-moving team that takes our work seriously, but not ourselves.We're looking for a Social Media Editor to join our team. About the RoleThis is a hands-on social media role built for someone who's ready to grow. You'll work closely with our Digital Director to manage day-to-day publishing across platforms-getting the right content out at the right time, in the right voice. You'll be part of a small, fast-moving team where your work will be visible and your learning curve will be steep (in a good way).This role includes at least one weekend day per week, with a weekday off in exchange.What You'll DoPublish content daily across platforms including X/Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, and Reddit.Write clear, engaging copy tailored to each platform's audience and format.Do light video editing to clip and format content from our shows for social.Help track what's performing well and flag trends to the team.Stay on top of platform changes, news cycles, and what's working in political media.Engage with audiences in comment sections and conversations, following team guidelines.Grow into ownership of a specific platform or content area over time.What You Bring1-2 years of experience working on social media, graphic design, or video editing.Familiarity with major social platforms and how content performs differently across them.Clear, concise writing skills and strong editorial judgment.A deep interest in politics, current events, and media.Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities, especially around breaking news.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Experience with video editing software is a plus.Comfort working a regular schedule that includes at least one weekend day, with a weekday off during the Monday-Friday workweek.What We OfferWe want people at The Bulwark to thrive and provide:Full employer-sponsored health plans401(k) plan with employer matchFlexible, uncapped vacation and paid time offCommuter benefits and Employee Assistance ProgramThis role is based in Washington, DC, where our team works together in person four to five days a week.
