Job Description

The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Office of Enterprise Development (OED), is seeking a highly-qualified Instructional Designer in Atlanta, Georgia. The Instructional Designer functions as a point of contact for writing and designing training curriculum, trainer's guide, and presentations. Responsible for developing and designing curriculum while placing focus on consistency, clarity of content, grammar and sentence structure, medium for delivery, and evaluation of the curriculum once piloted and launched. Assist with webinars, voiceovers, in-classroom training, and revitalize curriculum. This position also monitors project queues and collectively logs all activities in the project completion template provided. Skills, Knowledge and Attitude Must possess Strong customer service skills Strong attention to detail Ability to demonstrate effective active listening, organizational, planning, critical thinking and group facilitation skills Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions Ability to create a learning culture and operate in a confidential environment Ability to engage in travel for work-related responsibilities Willingness to work in a team environment and consistently display a respectful and professional demeanor Ability to oversee and manage multiple special projects within specified timeframes Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Experience in design, layout, and presentation techniques Experience in HTML and the use of HTML editors Experience working with both Mac and Windows platforms Strong proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite and/or standard curriculum design software applications typically used in a corporate office environment Must be able to Manage time effectively and deliver results in a timely manner Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers by honoring commitments, being courteous, accessible and responsive to the needs of others Demonstrate accountability for self and contributions to the team Work in a fast-paced environment Demonstrated knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design Have experience in proofreading and editing Assist the lead Instructional Designer position with pending projects Must be an experienced user MS Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Must be experienced in curriculum or instructional design software, not limited to, the Adobe Creative Suite and iSpring Experience with Learning Management (LMS) and Learning Content Management Systems (LCMS) such as Meridian, ANGEL, Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, Sakai, WebCT, Vista, etc. Or Content Management Systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Drupal, or Jooml Role and Responsibilities Assist in the development and delivery of online course materials and related instructional technologies consistent with established design and development processes Maintain tracking database/spreadsheet, files and records for course development launch, and updates Provide design and production assistance to DHS employees in the development of electronic delivery methods Edit instructional and supporting materials for grammar, clarity, consistency and accuracy of content Consult with DHS individuals or groups on optimal design of online courses and/or programs and effective uses of multimedia for instruction Ensure compliance with course design standards of new and revised course materials; provides quality assurance for courses and post production work Manage development projects from inception to completion Research, evaluate and troubleshoot instructional technologies and tools in support of online courses and initiatives Design learning objectives in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies to support online coursework and programs Provide professional and technical support/training to DHS employees Remain abreast of online, pedagogical and instructional technology trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations May conduct platform or training classes in a physical or virtual environment Collaborate and consult with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to collect, review and organize input for the development of training programs Utilize instructional design protocol (ADDIE, ISD, or similar) Apply project management, communication and problem solving skills in the design of all training projects to meet aggressive deadlines Perform other professional responsibilities as assigned Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Technology, Business, Education or a related field from an accredited college AND three (3) years of experience in e-Learning Solutions, curriculum design, video production, and facilitation of virtual/in-person training courses Demonstrated experience in facilitating in-classroom and virtual learning, along with soft skills courses are preferred Budget Information Critical Hire Code (Assigned by Approver) Background Verification Standard Background Verification (Required for all new proposals)1 - SSN Name Search1 - Federal Criminal Records Verification (past 7 years)1 - Motor Vehicle Records Search 1 - Global Monitor Check (formerly Patriot/OFAC/Terrorist)(Suppliers Only) To order, click on the link to the right: Order DHR Background Verification InstructionsThe completed Background Verification will be attached (via an automated feed) to the candidates user profile under the Attachments Section.
