REGISTRATION CLERK - ED

Purpose of Position:To obtain all necessary information from both inpatients and outpatients to initiate treatment and billing by completing data entry and clinical information into the registration system. The registration department is the front door to this hospital and the patient registrar must provide professional, efficient, quality customer service. Job Description:Enter and/or verify all information into Medipac registration systemVerify eligibility for all insurances utilizing electronic verification systemsComplete Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire for every Medicare patientScreen all Medicare outpatient lab patients for medical necessity Offer financial assistance and do quick financial screening application for all uninsured patientsEnter admissions for any ED admissionUpdate departed emergency patientsTear down and assemble ED recordContact AultWorks for any workman's compensation patientMemo all pertinent information regarding billing and insurance into Mpac systemAssure that Medipac System and Cerner system are in sync at all timesComprehensive knowledge of the following systems: MPAC, Cerner (FirstNet and SugiNet), AultWorks, RevRunner, RQI, Bed Tracking, HealthWorks Compliance Checker Follow all hospital and department policiesQualifications:High school diploma, minimumAbility to type at least 35 wpmFamiliarity with medical terminology, usefulAbility to work calmly and accurately in stressful situationsExcellent customer service skillsProfessional manner and appearanceWorking Conditions24/7 coverage Every other weekend and every other holidayCo-coordinated lunch and break periods Close working relations with clinical staffConstant walking utilizing Wireless on Wheels computer Continual involvement with patients and their familiesAbility to assist patients in wheelchairs and transport if necessaryAssigned uniforms to be worn at all times Blood and body fluid exposure: 3
