Description Legal Assistant - Collections & Bankruptcy A prominent, well-established South Carolina defense firm is expanding its Columbia team. We are seeking a proactive, detail-oriented Legal Assistant to support a high-volume Collections and Bankruptcy practice. This is an ideal role for a professional who thrives in a focused, "roll-up-your-sleeves" environment and prefers direct, person-to-person collaboration over endless email chains. The Legal Assistant Role In this position, you will provide comprehensive case management and administrative support to a Managing Director within a busy practice group. You will be joining an established, collaborative team that includes a Paralegal and a Junior Associate. Key Responsibilities: + Case Coordination: Manage the full lifecycle of files, including database maintenance and tracking critical deadlines for hearings, depositions, and trials. + Document Production: Draft and proofread essential legal filings such as discovery responses, motions, and subpoenas. + Court Filings: Execute electronic filings (E-filing) within South Carolina and US District Courts. + Administrative Flow: Handle incoming communications, schedule appointments, and coordinate travel logistics for attorneys. + Office Synergy: Engage in frequent in-person briefings with leadership to ensure tasks are aligned and deadlines are met. Requirements Candidate Profile We are looking for a self-starter who takes instruction well and prefers to focus on their work rather than office politics. + Experience: Ideally 3+ years of legal experience, specifically within litigation or bankruptcy. + Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office is required. Experience with i-Manage or Juris Suite is a significant advantage. + Communication: Highly articulate in both written and verbal interactions. + Adaptability: Able to manage multiple moving parts in a fast-paced environment while maintaining extreme attention to detail. Compensation & Premier Benefits My client is known for its stability and a benefits package that truly invests in their employees' long-term well-being. + Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 (commensurate with experience) plus a holiday bonus. + Retirement & Wealth Building: * 7.5% Profit Sharing of base salary deposited into your 401(k) after 12 months. + 50% 401(k) match up to 4%. + Health & Wellness: Firm-provided medical, dental, and vision for the employee (starts first of the month following 30 days).
