Entry Level Structural Engineer

Job Title: Structural EngineerJob Description We are seeking a Structural Engineer to support ongoing structural inspections of industrial facilities throughout Central Florida. This role focuses on inspecting existing structures, identifying deficiencies, and documenting repair needs through formal inspection reports. This position offers junior engineers the opportunity to gain hands-on industrial inspection experience while working under experienced structural professionals. Responsibilities + Perform structural inspections of industrial facilities, including walkways, pipe racks, buildings, and other structures. + Identify structural deficiencies, deterioration, or non-compliant conditions. + Document findings and prepare detailed inspection reports outlining required repairs. + Participate in on-the-job training with experienced inspectors, typically lasting 2-5 days. + Travel to facilities across Central Florida to conduct inspections. + Comply with all safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), and site-specific requirements. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering. + A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience, with internships or construction/field experience being acceptable. + Comfortable working in industrial environments. + Strong written communication skills for inspection reporting. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Prior structural or facility inspection experience. + Structural or civil design experience to help identify poor or failing conditions. + Experience with AutoCAD. + Candidates based in or near Tampa are preferred. + OSHA 10 certification (time and cost covered). + Florida Phosphate Producer Training (time and cost covered). Work Environment The first 2-3 weeks of each quarter will primarily be spent in the field for inspections. Reporting and documentation work may be completed remotely. Periodic travel to an office in Tampa or Orlando is required, with Tampa preferred. Inspections will occur at various facilities and surrounding areas, including South Pierce, New Wales, Lithia, FishHawk, Mulberry, Riverview, and Port Tampa Bay. Candidates must be located within driving distance. Travel expenses are covered, with mileage reimbursement for travel to and around job sites. During overnight assignments, accommodations up to $150/night for hotels and up to $75/day for meals are reimbursed. Respirator use may be required due to odors in certain areas. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tampa, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.58 - $36.54/hr.
