Swim Instructor

Position Type: Hourly/Community Education Swim Date Posted: 8/11/2025 Location: District Wide District:   Grosse Pointe Public Schools  Additional Information: Show/Hide Job Summary: * Teach American Red Cross swim classes, from pre-school swim program through Level 6, as well as other instructional swim programs * Develop and implement lesson plans, test students, and complete student certificates as required by American Red Cross * If working alone, be prepared to fulfill duties of lifeguard. If working with staff, supervise lifeguards and swim assistants * Work with swimmers in water as needed * Operate handicap chair, lift, and rescue equipment as needed * Respond to emergencies using appropriate first aid * Teach other non-ARC swim classes or supervise non-instructional swim programs as assigned Qualifications: * Current American Red Cross certifications for lifeguarding, CPR, first aid, AED, and Water Safety Instructor * Ability to work effectively with swimmers of various ages and abilities * Ability to handle handicap chair, lift, and rescue equipment * Experience as swim instructor preferred but not required Working Condition: $18 - more dependent on experience. Hours vary Candidates hired for this position will be employed through the educational staffing partner of the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, and will be required to complete a separate Edustaff application and orientation once an employment offer is received.
