Senior Hardware/Electrical Engineer Cupertino, CAPosition SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior Hardware Engineer (Electrical Engineer) to lead all electrical engineering activities for our access control hardware products. This role requires a seasoned professional who can design robust, compliant electrical systems that perform reliably in demanding environments. You will work closely with our Senior Mechanical Engineer to deliver integrated hardware solutions, owning all aspects of electrical design from component selection through production validation.We are committed to building products that redefine access control through innovative hardware design and intelligent software integration. Join us in creating the future of secure, seamless access experiences.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn end-to-end electrical design for all access control hardware products, from concept through productionLead component selection and qualification based on performance, reliability, and cost optimization criteriaDesign and optimize PCB schematics and layouts for manufacturability, signal integrity, and thermal performanceDrive electrical Design for Manufacturing (DFM) initiatives to ensure robust, scalable production processesExecute comprehensive electrical validation programs including functional, performance, and reliability testingManage compliance activities including EMC testing, FCC certification, and international regulatory requirementsCollaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering on integrated system design, thermal management, and mechanical constraintsConduct failure analysis and root cause investigations with statistical rigor and documented corrective actionsDevelop and execute validation plans with quantitative pass/fail criteria and statistical quality thresholdsMentor junior engineers and establish electrical engineering best practices and design standardsRequired Qualifications7-10 years of electrical engineering experience in electronics product developmentProven track record designing electrical systems for products deployed in diverse environmental conditionsAdvanced proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium Designer, KiCad, or equivalent)Strong background in analog and digital circuit design, power management, and signal integrityExperience with component selection including reliability analysis, qualification testing, and supply chain considerationsKnowledge of EMC/EMI design principles and experience with compliance testing and certification processesProficiency in electrical validation including automated test equipment, data acquisition, and statistical analysisExpertise in Design for Manufacturing including assembly processes, test strategies, and yield optimizationExperience with microcontrollers, embedded systems, and firmware integration considerationsKnowledge of power electronics including switching regulators, battery management, and thermal considerationsExperience with failure analysis tools including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and thermal imagingHigh-speed digital design experience with DDR, USB, Ethernet, and other communication interfacesCamera and imaging system integration including sensor interfaces, optics, and image processing pipelinesProject management experience with ability to coordinate multiple concurrent design projectsExcellent communication skills for technical documentation and cross-functional collaborationStrong documentation skills for design reviews, compliance submissions, and technical specificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldPreferred QualificationsRF antenna design experience, including impedance matching, radiation patterns, and integration challengesWireless communication protocols experience (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular) and regulatory complianceKnowledge of cybersecurity considerations for connected devices and secure boot implementationsMaster's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldWhat We OfferCompetitive Pay and Benefits to most companies in the area.
