About the Role:Summer at Lakeside is currently recruiting for a Elementary Entrepreneurship teacher to teach at our Investigative Learning Camp Jr., an academic and experiential summer camp designed for students entering grades 3-4. In Junior Entrepreneurs, students learn how ideas become real products, services, and social-good solutions by following the Design Thinking Process: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Through hands-on activities and challenges, campers identify problems worth solving, brainstorm and build quick prototypes, gather "customer" feedback, and iterate to improve their designs. The Investigative Learning Camp Jr. (ILC Jr.) offers students the opportunity to take classes covering STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) -based topics. All courses encourage creative play and hands-on learning; courses are project-based and do not assume students have any previous knowledge of the subject matter. No homework is assigned. The Junior Entrepreneurs class runs afternoons, 12:30 - 3:15 p.m., July 13- July 17 and July 27- July 31, Monday - Friday. There will be a mandatory orientation meeting on Wednesday, July 1. Visit our Investigative Learning Camp Jr. webpage to read more about this camp, including descriptions of the courses offered for summer 2026.Specific Responsibilities:Create an inclusive and culturally responsive curriculum that encourages creativity, collaboration, risk-taking, and critical thinkingCreate organized and engaging lesson plans that include additional challenges for each dayOrder and organize supplies as necessarySupervise and instruct a diverse group of students that have different educational backgrounds and experiencesTrain and supervise the assigned high-school counselor, who serves as a classroom teaching assistantProvide individual support and adapt different teaching strategies for students needing additional instructionRequirements and Qualifications:Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.Prior experience teaching a diverse group of elementary, middle-school, or high-school age students; demonstrated equity and inclusion mindset.Candidates should be aware of their own identity and biases; candidate actively works to create an inclusive classroom environment.A bachelor's degree, masters degree in a relevant subject area preferredExperience with inclusive and multicultural curriculum developmentExcellent communication and organizational skillsPositive and collaborative attitudeCandidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.Valid CPR & First Aid certification by July 1, 2026.Compensation and BenefitsThe stipend for this position is $2,000. Lunch is included. The course may only run if enough students register. Enrollment will remain open until June 1. If the number of students enrolled is too small to run by June 1, or if the course is canceled for any reason, the stipend will not be paid. Summer at Lakeside also offers free camp for children (Gr.3-8) of all summer employees for the weeks when they are working for the summer program.
