Position: Special Education Lead TeacherStart Date: August for the 2026-2027 school year; 10.5 month contractCompensation: $55,000-$85,000, competitive salary on leadership salary scaleSchool: Partnership AcademyMission: Partnership Academy's mission is to create learning experiences and partnerships that empower students to achieve their greatest potential in order to be positive contributors in their community.Vision: To be an innovative school that prepares students for a successful future.Job Description:The Special Education Lead Teacher performs duties ranging from student instruction, to coordinating and completing due process paperwork, to overseeing the special education assessment process from start to finish. This position requires vast knowledge of the special education system in the state of Minnesota. The legal aspects of this position require acute attention to detail, process, and timelines. The Special Education Lead Teacher supervises some Associate Educators and must clearly communicate with staff members, families, and outside consultants in order to effectively complete the duties of the job. Key Responsibilities:Supervise special education staff, including paraprofessionals and case managersCoaching and mentoring special education teachersModeling evidence-based instructional practicesSupporting fidelity of IEP implementation in classroomsParticipate in school leadership committees alongside other department headsWork closely with the middle school special education coordinator to ensure seamless transitions and program continuityCoordinate IEP plan meetings, ensuring proper procedures and timelinesSupport teachers in implementing accommodations and instructional strategiesFacilitate communication between general education teachers, special education staff, and familiesOversee special education documentation and compliance requirementsReviewing school-wide special education dataIdentifying trends and compliance risksReporting outcomes to leadership and MDEProvide professional development on inclusive practices and differentiated instructionCollaborate with related service providers (speech, OT, social work, DAPE, DHH, etc.)Monitor student progress and support data-driven decision makingAssist with transition planning and grade-level advancement decisionsServe as a resource for behavior support strategies and interventionsCoordinate with district special education leadership and outside agenciesEnsure compliance with Minnesota Rule 3525 (Special Education Rules)Support implementation of Minnesota's Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS)Coordinate with county social services and community health boards as neededContribute to school-wide strategic planning and policy developmentCreating and/or updating the annual Total Special Educations Systems manual and Restrictive Procedures Plan.Plans and implements professional development opportunities for all staff related special education program needs.Acts as a liaison for the child find process. Leads Child Study Meetings.Organizes and oversees the district's extended school year program.Coordinate the implementation of a Special Education Advisory Council.Manage fiscal processes such as:Procurements of equipment and suppliesMaintaining equipment and assessment inventoryThird Party BillingMARSS ReportingPARS / Semi-annual CertificationsStaffing and HiringScreening and interviewing candidatesMaking hiring recommendationsSupporting onboarding and induction of new special education staffQualifications:Master's degree in Special Education or related field (Required)Valid Minnesota special education teaching license (Required)3-5 years experience working with elementary-aged students with disabilities (Required)Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, and Minnesota Rule 3525 (Required)Strong communication and collaboration skills (Required)Leadership, supervisory, and organizational abilities (Required)Experience serving on leadership teams or committees (Required)Conversational Spanish (Preferred)Physical Job Requirements:Physical requirements associated with the position can be best summarized as follows:Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, up to 50 pounds, including the human body.
