MAKE A DIFFERENCE: Serve as an America Reads TutorYOU MUST BE WORK-STUDY ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION.The America Reads Tutoring Program is currently accepting applications. (Successful tutors may continue on through the Spring and subsequent years, if eligible)This program combines community service, rewarding work experience and a paycheck.America Reads tutors will spend approximately 2-10 hours per week tutoring children in small groups or in one-on-one sessions. The goal of this program is to ensure every child can read well and independently by the end of elementary school.Bradley University offers this program Monday through Thursday in the afternoons/evenings (all tutoring should be complete by 7:30pm).Please consider becoming involved in the America Reads Tutoring Program! If you have any questions, email America Reads Graduate Assistant Elsie Kibby in the Smith Career Center at . Successful candidates:should have good communication skillsare patient and comfortable working one-on-one with children in grades K-8have schedules which allow for tutoring at least 2 shifts per week (the more availability you have the better!)MAY have prior experience working with children and/or tutoring (preferred but NOT required)MUST be a full time Bradley studentTO APPLY:Candidates must electronically submit an application with a resume and a statement of interest (In order to qualify for the program, you MUST have work study noted as part of your financial aid package. Some undergraduate students (with limited family resources as determined by the results of the FAFSA) qualify for Work Study funds to help offset costs of college. This is a federally-funded opportunity to earn "spending money" through part-time, on-campus employment. Eligibility for work-study does not guarantee you will find a campus job.
