Job TitleF-16 Instructor / SMELocationKelly/Lackland AFB - San Antonio, TX 78236 US (Primary)Position Summary and Job ResponsibilitiesPosition SummaryThe F-16 Instructor/Subject Matter Expert (I/SME) instructs in all F-16 pilot training devices used at Texas Air National Guard Base, JBSA Lackland, Kelly Annex, and instructs in the classroom in specific areas of aircraft systems, weapons employment and tactics. These areas coincide with assigned areas of responsibility and are the focal point for technical content of assigned courseware materials. I/SMEs use their knowledge of technical orders, AF/ANG publications, and F-16 aircraft systems to provide consistent, accurate lesson content input as a member of the courseware development team.Job ResponsibilitiesConduct high quality training device instruction to include console and cockpit operationConduct high quality platform academic instructionEvaluate and record student performanceConduct remedial student training when requiredMonitor courseware currency in assigned academic and trainer areas of responsibilityProvide content input for all lesson revisions and new lessons as the primary SMEReview publications for updated information to be incorporated into training materialsConduct upgrade and continuation training for other BGI and ANG instructorsPerform contract training support duties as directed and assigned by the Site ManagerBe available during duty hours to answer student training questionsConduct Instrument Refresher Course Instruction as requiredPerform as flight evaluation board or mishap investigation board witness if requiredPerform flight lead duties in training devicesRequired and/or Preferred QualificationsRequired and/or Preferred Qualifications (education, experience, licenses, skills)Required:MUST BE U.S. CITIZENSecret or Higher DoD security clearanceBachelors degree from an accredited universityMinimum of five hundred (500) hours air-to-air and air-to-ground experience in F-16, F-15, F-18, F-22, F-35 or other comparable aircraft as an instructor pilot, or previously qualified as a contract cockpit qualified training device instructor in the F-16.Desired:Qualified in the above listed fighter aircraft within the last five years, or qualified as a contract cockpit qualified instructor in the preceding two years.More than one thousand (1,000) flying hours in the F-16, F-15, F-18, F-22, F-35 or other comparable aircraft.Previous experience as an FTU flight instructor.Previous experience as an academic platform instructor.Previous experience as a training device (simulator) instructor.Previous SEAD experience.USAF Fighter Weapons Instructor course or Navy Top Gun graduate.AFFSA Advanced Instrument School graduate.USAF Academic Instructor School or comparable program graduate.BGI is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
