Position Summary Applications are being accepted to create a pool of qualified applicants for future part-time teaching positions within the Pierce College District in the Emergency Management program. All applications remain on file for one year from the submission date. This program offers an Associate of Applied Science Degree, a Bachelor of Applied Science degree, and 4 related certificates, including Tribal Emergency Management and Healthcare Emergency Management. The Emergency Management online degree programs at Pierce College educate students to oversee all-hazard emergency planning and training programs, coordinate disaster response and recovery efforts, and navigate the administrative and technical demands of disaster and emergency management efforts. The Associate's degree program helps students prepare for entry-level positions in the public, private or non-profit sectors, while the Bachelor's degree provides more advance concepts suitable for career advancement or advanced entry-level positions. Pierce's programs are applicable to all emergency services fields, businesses, and industries, and prepares students to work in any all-hazard emergency environment. The program is seeking instructors who will contribute vision, energy and leadership, and are eager to play a creative role in developing and improving the program. Lecture rate is $1092.55 per credit hour. Applications are valid for up to one year after submission. Essential Functions * Teach course(s) as assigned. * Conduct assigned classes in a manner that promotes student success and incorporates various teaching styles and technology. * Be available to students before and after class, and * Work effectively with colleagues and students of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Qualifications Required: Meet one of the following: * Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution from any related Emergency Management discipline including 15 graduate semester credits in the discipline. OR * A related earned Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the courses you would teach AND a minimum five years of successful work experience in the field of the classes you would be qualified to teach. OR * Meet professional/technical qualifications including a master's degree from an accredited institution in fields where they are readily available or a bachelor's degree and 5 years' professional experience in the discipline field AND * Must complete professional-technical faculty certification (for those teaching 2/3 full time load for more than equivalent of 3 quarters) Application Process Application Requirements(Does Not Apply to Non-Credit Class Instruction): To be considered for this position, applicants must include the following items in their application package: * Letter of formal application that addresses how your experience and education qualifies you to perform the assigned responsibilities (Cover Letter) * Detailed curriculum vitae of all educational and professional experience, which includes a list of courses taught (Curriculum Vitae). * Unofficial copies of all college and university transcripts that include degree received and confer date.
