The review of applications will begin on January 19, 2026. A Ph.D. in environmental science or a closely related scientific discipline, along with prior teaching experience, is required by the time of appointment. The program at Goucher is interdisciplinary, and we seek candidates who can help students foster their collaborative skills across disciplinary lines. We seek an enthusiastic, student-oriented colleague with demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching. The ideal candidate will have completed coursework and research that utilize scientific approaches to address environmental problems. We are particularly interested in candidates who can deepen our students' understanding of the interactions between humans and natural systems through active and experiential learning techniques in laboratory- and field-based environmental studies courses. Teaching responsibilities include an introductory environmental science lecture and laboratory course, applied statistics, an upper-level elective on a specific science-based topic, and a problem-based course that strengthens non-science students' ability to understand and apply the Scientific Method. In addition, we seek a colleague who will mentor undergraduate students in their interdisciplinary capstone research projects and provide service to the department.
