Valtir is currently looking to hire a Drafter for our plant in Rocklin, Ca.Valtir has been an industry leader and global supplier of highway safety products for over 50 years. Our products are specified, sold, and installed throughout North America and in more than 100 international markets.The Drafter reports directly to the Engineering Documentation Services manager with a moderate degree of supervision and works with the other drafting technicians to expand their knowledge and abilities. What You'll Do: • Create and modify detailed engineering documentation using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor • Create and maintain accurate 3D models from sketches, specifications, physical parts, and other documentation • Collaborate with engineers to create and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and other documentation in accordance with ASME Y14 and company standards • Perform tolerance studies to verify part fit and make recommendations as necessary • Perform part and material research to determine accuracy and availability • Maintain organization of engineering documentation using Autodesk Vault PDM software • Maintain part numbering systems and issue part and drawing numbers • Assist in the creation and maintenance of technical engineering documents using 3D models (i.e. product manuals, installation instructions, etc.) as directed • Create high quality product renderings as directed • Assist in the training of other CAD Technicians as directed • Assist in product design as directed • Perform other duties and assignments as directed • Act as backup to other department functions as directed What You'll Do:• High school diploma or equivalent with 1-2 years of experience • Up to 2 years of experience working with 3D parametric CAD software, Autodesk Inventor is preferred • Minimum 2 year of experience working in an engineering environment processing change orders and creating engineering documentation • Competent knowledge of ASME Y14 standards • Familiar with manufacturing processes such as welding, forming, milling, turning, etc. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, adapting to changing project needs and priorities • Mechanically inclined with good problem solving and troubleshooting skills • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office • Good oral and written communication skills • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time and constantly operate a computer and other office machinery such as a copier or computer printer. This individual must have the ability to occasionally move about inside the office and shop area to work with others. • Most of the work is performed in a climate-controlled office setting. Certain functions of the job may need to be performed in the fabrication shop or outside such as build studies. Work is conducted most often in close coordination with other departments (Engineering, Sales & Marketing, Operations, Supply Chain and Product Support) in a Team effort with positive collaboration. Working extended hours may be required as workload demands.Salary Range: $24.02-$36.03/hr
