Reporting directly to the Chief Operator, this role is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality drinking water to our community. The Operator will play a key role in maintaining compliance with regulatory standards, operating sophisticated treatment systems, and mentoring plant staff. This is an Essential position. requiring availability for different shifts. emergency response. and overtime as needed. Duties and Responsibilities Operate treatment plant systems, including pumps, filters, lime slakers, membranes, and chemical feed equipment Conduct and document regular chemical tests for process control Interpret real-time data from SCADA and online analyzers to maintain process efficiency and regulatory compliance Maintain logs and use asset management systems for reporting and maintenance tracking Supervise and mentor shift operators and trainees Perform light maintenance, housekeeping, and inventory managementCommunicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and regulatory agencies with professionalism and diplomacyPrepare and submit regulatory reportsAdhere to and promote workplace safety standards QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredCollege coursework in a relevant field is a plus ExperienceWorking knowledge of:Water treatment operations and chemistryLaboratory proceduresMechanical maintenanceMicrosoft Office Suite (testing required)SCADA systemsAsset management softwareProficient in written and verbal English communicationLicenses & CertificationsValid Florida Driver's License requiredClass "B" Water Operator License required; Class "A" preferredWastewater license required Must obtain Southeast Desalting Association (SEDA) Membrane Operator Certification I (MOC I) within two years (training provided)Must obtain Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification within two years (training provided)Willingness to obtain additional licenses as neededKey CompetenciesTechnical understanding of water treatment processes and systemsKnowledge of chemical handling and safety proceduresMechanical aptitudeAttention to detail (including accurate color distinction for chemical and equipment assessments)Ability to work independently and within a teamBasic to intermediate computer proficiencyPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.
