We are looking for like-minded, dynamic individuals to come and join our team. The Caring Place provides emergency shelter, residential programs, job training, education & computer literacy classes, healthcare, transitional housing, permanent housing, employment opportunities for homeless men, women, and children as well as programs for "at-risk" youth.We are currently seeking full-time Guest Service Assistant(s) to monitor residents at our homeless shelters at Broward Outreach Center in Hollywood, FL.Shift(s) available:3:00PM - 11:30PM11:00PM - 7:30AMIncluding weekends and holidays as neededJOB SUMMARYThe Guest Services Assistant (GSA) reports to the Guest Services Supervisor and monitors and oversees residential clients. The GSA will assist in new resident orientation to the program, and provide general oversight of the residents and facility in the absence of management. The GSA duties also include handling emergencies according to policies and procedures and notifying management of unusual incidents at occurrence or immediately thereafter. Will provide operational support involving graduations, staff functions, luncheons, laundry services, and transportation of clients.DUTIESOversees front desk, laundry room, Guest Service CSAs and ensures clients and visitors of the Center are treated with respect and dignityRoutinely checks for hazardous substances and unsafe conditions in the facility and corrects immediately when possible or reports it to Supervisor or Director if unable to remedyReports maintenance problems to SupervisorHelps maintain a safe, clean and secure environment for residents, employees, volunteers and visitorsHandles emergencies according to policies and procedures and notifies management with timely incident reportsResponds to emails and phone calls in a timely manner, and keeps other staff informedMonitors residents throughout the Center, and ensures that all residents are treated with dignity and respectAssists with orientation for new residents and volunteersListens to residents, makes decisions based on available facts using wisdom, compassion and according to company policyWill lead and/or participate in devotions, prayers, or other ministry activities ex. outreach eventsMust be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of FaithPerforms other related duties as assignedREQUIREMENTSRequires a high school diploma or GED, some college level coursework in social work or knowledge of addictions and relapse prevention highly preferredMust have one (1) year work experience in social services or security-related workMust be of good moral character with knowledge of homelessness and addiction issues, and have the ability to lead clients by exampleMust have good communication, computer and organizational skills with knowledge of basic facility maintenance and securityMust be able to multi-task and make sound decisions in a fair and compassionate mannerMust have good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse population and all levels of residents, employees, volunteers and guestsMust be able to understand, speak, read and write English and carry out oral and written instructions.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be very mobile as sitting, walking, standing, stooping, bending and reaching are required to perform essential job dutiesMust have the ability to lift and/or carry objects weighing up to 25 poundsMust be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general publicMust be able to move around unassisted as needed to perform essential job dutiesPERKS AND BENEFITSDay off for Birthday/Work AnniversaryEmployee DiscountsHolidays (12)Paid Time OffHealth Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, GAP and Health Savings Account)Company Paid Life insurance403b Retirement Plan with 3% matchOnly qualified candidates will be considered.
