CNC Programmer

CNC OPERATOR/PROGRAMMERDepartment: ProductionLocation: ASTOUND LV We are a fast-paced company with high expectations and seek someone who is as passionate about the work as we are. The CNC Operator/Programmer plays a key role in our fabrication process, supporting the production of complex scenic and structural components used in events, exhibits, and environments. This individual will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment, while ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency at all stages.RESPONSIBILITIESWork independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.Interpret and translate CAD files (AutoCAD, SolidWorks preferred) into accurate CNC programs using appropriate CAM software.Operate CNC routers or mills to cut wood, plastics, and non-ferrous materials to precise specifications.Set up tooling, materials, and machine parameters based on job requirements.Review technical drawings and cut lists for accuracy and feasibility prior to programming or cutting.Troubleshoot issues related to programming, setup, or machine operation and communicating effectively with supervisors when assistance is needed.Inspect and measure finished parts for conformity to design using calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools.Maintain clean and safe work areas in accordance with ASTOUND's health and safety standards.Track and report material usage and CNC time against production jobs.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to programming efficiency and machining processes.Work closely with carpentry, metal, graphics, and project teams to ensure accurate and timely output.Maintain CNC machines, tooling, and computer systems to ensure peak operational condition.Assist with training junior operators or team members as needed.Follow all instructions from department Manager and senior team members.QUALIFICATIONSStrong work ethic - reliable, punctual, and committed to excellence.A self-starter who can manage tasks independently with minimal supervision.Basic knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks.Desire to grow technical skills in CNC programming and machining.Attention to detail and ability to follow technical drawings accurately.PREFERRED EXPERIENCEExperience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines.Entry-level to intermediate experience with CNC programming software.Familiarity with G-code and common CAM or controller software.Comfort working with a variety of materials, including wood, metal, plastic, and laminates.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThis role requires regular standing, lifting of materials (up to 50 lbs), and operation of heavy equipment. Flexibility in schedule and ability to work extended hours or weekends may be required based on project timelines.
