General Job Description Job Summary The Electrical Leadman is a working foreman responsible for leading a crew of electricians and apprentices in the installation of electrical systems for new single-family homes. This role combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on electrical work. The Leadman ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with IES Residential standards, project specifications, and applicable codes. Key Responsibilities Lead and participate in residential electrical installation including layout, rough-in, and trim-out phases. Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local regulations, and project blueprints. Enforce IES Residential safety policies and OSHA standards on all job sites. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues efficiently. Train and mentor apprentices and junior electricians. Communicate job progress, issues, and changes with project managers, superintendents, and builders. Maintain accurate timekeeping, production logs, and material usage records. Ensure installations meet IES quality standards and pass inspections. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site. Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 4-6 Specific Qualifications Qualifications Minimum 4 years of residential electrical installation experience. At least 1 year of leadership or crew lead experience. Texas Residential Wireman or Journeyman Electrician license required. Strong knowledge of NEC, blueprint reading, and residential wiring practices. Strong troubleshooting and leadership skills. Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly to communicate with team members and understand job instructions. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Must pass background check and drug screening. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders for extended periods. Ability to work overhead and use hand and power tools. Must be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces when required. Work Environment Work is performed on active residential construction sites. Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat and humidity. Exposure to construction noise, dust, and building materials. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required depending on project schedules.
