TOWN OF APEX invites applications for the position of: Utility Maintenance Worker - Compliance ABOUT THIS POSITION: EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $46,238.40 - 56,638.40 WORK LOCATION: 105-A Upchurch Street, Apex, NC 27502 SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 7am - 3:30pm POSTING CLOSING DATE: Until filled WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: An employee in this class performs intermediate work maintaining, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on the collections sewer system. This position reports to the Water Resources Compliance Supervisor. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. A SAMPLE OF THE ESSENTIALS: * Performs backflow preventer installs, repairs and testing for Town owned backflow preventers. * Performs backflow preventer field inspections for new development or change of use commercial alterations. * Build, repair, maintain hydrant meters and performs set, move, pickup requests from customers for temporary water. * Performs field inspections on existing grease interceptors and provides inspection results as failed or passing and include items needed for repair or maintenance. * Performs field inspections for new grease interceptors on new development and change of use commercial alterations. * Identify and notify supervisor of violations of the Cross Connection Control and Fats, Oils, and Grease ordinance violations discovered in the field and provide initial communication to customers for said violations. * Install and replace water meters. * Assists other divisions in Water Resource, as needed inspecting, maintaining, and installing water/sewer appurtenances. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: High School Diploma or GED and minimal (less than one year) experience.
